Academy Awards 2011: Best Dressed!

My favourite event happened last night....the OSCARS! So many beautiful dresses and people, the fashion was spectacular! A lot to get through!!

I've picked my favourites and I'm even going to post all of Anne Hathaway's dresses in a separate post!
So exciting!

  • Mila Kunis in Elie Saab Haute Couture:

I was hoping somebody would wear Elie Saab Couture at this years ceremony and luckily for me it was the beautiful Mila Kunis! She looked like an angel, the lavender looks gorgeous on her, it's a very romantic look and I'm glad she kept everything else simple and to a minimum so that the dress would do the talking. She looks gorgeous and was definitely one of the night's best dressed!

Mila already being ridiculously gorgeous didn't need to much prepping or heavy make-up, the hair is softly up and the make-up is very muted out, the only thing that really stands out on her face are those amazing eyes of hers!

  • Michelle Williams in Chanel Haute Couture:

I always love seeing a Chanel piece on the red carpet and Michelle's couture dress didn't disappoint, she looks lovely and elegant with just the right amount of glamour. A definite up from her Golden Globes disaster!

To add to the already muted tones of her dress she opted for natural make-up with the slightest smoke to her eyes, I think anything heavier would've looked messy on such a clean and gorgeous dress!

  • Anne Hathaway in Valentino:

The lady of the night (apart from Natalie Portman of course!) Anne wore this gorgeous red Valentino dress which had a huge ruffle at the back, she even had Valentino himself with her on the red carpet just in case anything went wrong, lucky girl! If you think this is something wait til' you see Anne's EIGHT costume changes in my next post!

As beautiful as ever, Anne went for a classic matte red lip to compliment her red dress and porcelain skin. I'm not too fond of the highlighted hair because I think she's at her best when she's a dark brunette with very fine highlights at the most but none the less she looks wonderful.

  • Amy Adams in L'Wren Scott:

The lovely Amy wore this gorgeous sequined dress by L'Wren Scott, the colour is amazing and one of the reasons I love the dress so much. It looks gorgeous against her porcelain skin, blue sequins are a sure fire way to be noticed on the red carpet. I love the jewels but I wouldn't have worn the necklace, as beautiful as it is, it's too much for an all over sequined dress.

Amy's hair was beautiful and a talking point among many fashion critics, the romantic waves set the tough dress perfectly and the natural make-up is just right for the pretty Amy.

  • Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana:

Another favourite of last nights, Scarlett's sexy Dolce & Gabbana dress definitely stood out from the crowd, everything from the lace to the colour was fantastic and it looked divine on her. I wasn't surprised she wore D&G seeing as she is the face of their beauty products, Scarlett was one of my absolute favourites for sure!

OMG, could she look any more beautiful?! The orange and gold on the eyes make those green peepers stand out and the peachy sheen on the blush complemented her perfectly, probably my favourite make-up of the night! Oh and the hair, I was staring at it for ages trying to figure out if she's really cut it and yes she has and wow it looks gorgeous, I'm actually a little obsessed with it now!

  • Reese Witherspoon in Giorgio Armani Privé:

Reese wore the simplest of dresses and still managed to stand out, I think she looks gorgeous and very elegant. Some might say it's too simple but I think in some ways its appropriate, she wasn't nominated and was just presenting, she's not trying to steal the fashion crown and I love her for it!

Can I just say, I loved Reese's ponytail! I don't understand the 'Barbie' crap, I think she looked beautiful, even better than those who tried their hardest to look made-up. Her make-up is classic Reese, not too much but the hair definitely stood out, good job Reese!

  • Hilary Swank in Gucci Premiere:

Well hello Hilary! She's on a roll this awards season I didn't think she could trump her SAG dress but she looks breathtaking and she's in feathers again! It's a perfect dress for her, she always bring her A game to the red carpet, definitely someone to look forward to!

So pretty! Hilary always looks lovely at red carpet events and this years ceremony is no different! It's pretty obvious she has great skin and doesn't need to cake on the foundation, she just looks beautiful!

  • Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture:

I had no idea Cate was attending but wow! This Givenchy Couture creation is stunning and perfect for Cate, very high fashion and delicate at the same time. She always stuns on the red carpet and this dress got people talking, they either loved it or hated it. I for one love it, it's unique and she looks perfect! The detailing at the front is quite unusual and so is the detailing at the back but then again, that's Couture for you!

Cate is one of my all time favourite beauties, she's so naturally beautiful and delicate looking, just like a doll. Perfectly natural hair and make-up as Cate is known to not over do it.

  • Halle Berry in Marchesa:

Another wow dress of last nights, I wasn't expecting Halle there but when I saw this I was stunned, it's a beautiful dress! Bravo to Marchesa for this creation and to Halle for choosing it! I'm surprised the tulle goes so well with the rest of thee material, it created a very ethereal feel to it. A definite beauty!

Halle is the Queen of the pixie crop, her hair always looks perfect! She looks more and more beautiful with age, she's just amazing!

  • Natalie Portman aka BEST ACTRESS in Rodarte:

She did it!!!! Woohoo! I couldn't be happier for Natalie on her first Academy Award, she truly deserved it! I've seen Black Swan and my goodness it's one hell of a film, Natalie in particular is so fantastic as Nina that she literally compelles you with her acting. A masterpiece and Natalie is so deserving of her Oscar, congratulations to her!

Natalie's chosen designer was Rodarte of course (they also designed all of the Black Swan costumes), the dress is gorgeous on her and fits her baby bump perfectly! Purple is definitely Nat's colour, she tends to wear different shades of it and always looks exquisite. She looks like a winner and hey, she won! Beautiful, as always!

Positively glowing, can you blame her? It's hard to describe just how gorgeous Natalie is so I'll just go ahead and say she's beautiful and leave it at that! The hair and make-up were appropriate for the dress and for the event, she was just perfect, no other words needed!

And that's awards season over, wow, it was great with so many beautiful dresses! Up next: MET Ball!!

Coming Up Next!!

Hey!

It's been quite a while since I've been on here but I have a good reason, I've been so busy with school and what not that it became impossible to do everything including my blog, however I do have a week off and I'm planning on putting it to good use!

I'm going to start updating a little more, I've missed quite a bit of Awards season and I promise to make up for it, I'm going to cover the SAG's, Grammy's, BAFTA's and the Brits very soon!

Toodles!

:)
